Alan B. Harp, Jr., CFA, ASA
For over 20 years at HFBE, Alan has been involved in determining the fair market value of interests in closely held businesses. Throughout most of Alan’s career, he has been a generalist providing valuations in a wide range of industries primarily for tax purposes (estate and gift tax). In recent years, he has added an industry focus to his generalist practice – the valuation of oil and gas interests and entities. Alan provides valuations in the oil and gas realm for a broad range of purposes, including tax and estate planning, corporate transactions, financial reporting, and bankruptcy. He co-authored an article entitled “Oil and Gas Company Valuations” published in the Spring 2009 issue of Business Valuation Review.
Alan graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers and is licensed as an NASD Series 7 General Securities Representative. He is also a member of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO) and the Houston Producers Forum.
